A new space

This is my first internship abroad! I can't wait for new experiences and the opportunity to use my skills.

Today marks my first day as a Rappler intern. I've always loved writing, design, and journalism. They've always been fun and informative. While I've been to the Philippines many times before with my family, I have never had an internship abroad. This is my first time living without my family (parents and siblings); this month, I am living in a condo without family during the week. I've never had that experience before. While it's an extremely overwhelming, new experience, it's super exciting. I've always wanted to try before going to college! My two cousins and I came to scout out the area on Sunday afternoon. We found the area to be very welcoming, clean, and safe. Today, my cousin took an uber with me to the office. I might have come a little too early, but it was great getting to see the area for the first time with few people in the office. The office is neat, open, and inspiring. When you first enter the office, you see the completely transparent conference rooms covered with ideas and inspirational quotes. To add, everyone is super friendly and kind! This month, I hope to gain new work experience. Specifically, I hope to do the following: I aim to enhance my conversational and interpersonal skills by working with others. I aim to improve my writing skills by having more opportunities to write. I hope to explore new outlets such as photography and videography. I hope to learn more about different company cultures and values, especially as I am in another country. Aside from that, I hope to learn more about my family background. I've never been surrounded by other Filipinos for a long period of time — family get-togethers don't count. During my month here, I hope to become more independent, learn more about myself, my background, and family. I can't wait for all of the new experiences to come!
